Flowers For The Wife

I haven't been buying flowers for my wife for a long time. I can't remember the last time I bought her flowers, I'm such a hopeless case! I usually just pick flowers from the backyard for her, I'm so kiam siap!

But I did buy her these last Sunday. They're oriental lilies, I used to grow them but somehow I wasn't able to keep them from dying! These are long lasting and have very strong perfume so its good value for money...there I go again with money!

The problem with these flowers is that they drip sticky liquid down on to the table from the stamen and the powdery pollens fall everywhere as well so can be quite a nuisance sometimes.

Some people cut off the stamen to avoid this problem but I think that would ruin the beauty of the flower don't you agree? I just put up with the problem and enjoy the fragrance and beauty of this wonderful flowers, they last a long time and it's been nearly a week and they're still going strong. Have a good weekend everyone!

The lilies are gorgeous!
I usually discourage King from buying me flowers. I think it's such a waste of money lah. But hey, it works just as well even if they are from the backyard. Even more romantic..

I agree about not cutting off the stamen.

I so love flowers. I would ask for no presents as long as there are fresh flowers for me. Backyard or otherwise.

Lucky u no cut the stamen and its sticky liquid. Or else the flowers become pondan, then how? But wait, stamen is a female thingie? Never mind, ask Cikgu STP to give biologi lesson. Die, people see flower = pretty, I see flower = sex organs.

Flowers from your backyard is not kiamsiap lah. You took the trouble to grow them remember?
So I think the missus would appreciate them more.
Next time follow my style lah...buy plastic flowers. Can use for many years. LOL

I've seen my florist actually wiping the stamen and removing the pollen so that it wouldn't have any more "sticky" liquid and the pollen dust wouldn't fly around and cause people to sneeze
