Back To Fairfield

Its been a year since I published a post on the street party at Fairfield and what do you know, time flies. Its that time of the year again and I went back there to check out the big event.

The day started off with a little bit of rain with chilly southerly wind but that didn't deter people from showing up to support this great day. This event is organised by the traders of Station street to promote awareness of mental illness and also to encourage people from the surrounding suburbs to come to Fairfield.

As usual all the restaurants and eateries have set up their tables and chairs out onto the street so the patrons can enjoy their meals outside while enjoying the atmosphere of the party. There were live bands everywhere hired by the restauranteurs to entice people to eat at their joints.

Sergeant Pete and his police force were there to make sure everyone is behaving themselves so as not to spoil it for everyone else. He'll put you in the divvy van if you're naughty!

When we got there it was just in time to see the Mayor of Darebin, Cr. Stanley Chiang and the organisers doing their speeches and announcing the opening ceremony. There's 2 chinese mayors I know of in Melbourne, this guy here and Cr. John So the Mayor of Melbourne City so it goes to show that there's no such thing as preferences for "sons of the lands" here.

This year's event seems to be bigger and better than last year. I noticed that there are more bands and performers around coz every few yards you can hear music playing from somewhere. Its like the battle of the bands here!

And of course there's always games to test your skills but from what I can see the probability of you getting a price out of this game is very slim. You're supposed to flip a rubber frog from that special "frog flipper" you use to land it on one of the moving water lilies. You have to have jedi powers to do that I reckon!

This would be a much easier game coz you play it by chance with the roll of the gigantic dices. Its a special modified "ladder & snakes" boardgame that you play and at the same time you learn and understand about mental diseases.

There's plenty of food to sample and BBQ meats are the most popular. What do you think is roasting on the spit? Have a guess, is it 1) lamb, 2) pony, 3) pig, 4) Chester? Leave your answer in the comment box and I'll reveal the answer tomorrow when I'll post more on the street party with SYT shaking her ass!

That's a lamb! :)

The difference btw M'sia and OZ/NZ is that in M'sia, you don't need to have an event to get people to come out to play.

But in OZ/NZ, no event in town = no need to come out to play. ;p
