Don't Litter Your Used Syringes!

Australia has a problem with drugs like any other countries but we do our best to deal with it and one way is to educate people on disposing used syringes safely to stop the spread of HIV and other diseases through accidental punctures by syringes.

I was walking on the walk path in Richmond when I saw this. This area does have a problem with drugs where I see people buying drugs from the dealers in broad daylight outside the shops almost everyday. The police come, the dealers leave, then the police leave and the dealers come back again. Never ending day in, day out.

I don't despise drug users, I hope they get help but I do wish they dispose their syringes properly and not just on the streets where children can easily pick them up and prick themselves. So please don't litter your used syringes!

I am a cerfiticated trained WA AIDS Council volunter.
In WA or probably whole Australia, we educate the public to deal with different issue including syringe disposal.

If the public feel comfortable, they can disposal the syringe if they come across any.

If the person is COMFORTABLE to do dispose the syringe, this is what he/she can do:

1. check if there is any blood stain, sharp around the area.
2. put a sign up or ask people around to beware, and don't go close to that area.
3. you can pick up the syringe using a BBQ thong. If you using your own hand, make sure you are wearing protecting glove.
4. Find an empty plastic bottle (with lid), such as mineral water, fizzy drink bottle, put the syring into the bottle, and throw it into green bin. (not recycle bin)
5.wash your hand with soap and water.
6. Done. =)

If you don't feel like doing it, you can call security, or council or even police to do it.
But to some extend, we still need to tell ppl there is a sharp around.. dun just selfishly walk away. right? ;)

This is voluntering =) But i thought it is good to show ppl what we can do, if you don't mind, uncle wuching?

Cheers!

oh dear. that is very irresponsible. yeah, esp if a child picks the syringe up and pokes himself. what if the user has been positive with some transmitted disease? *shudders*

I have a better solution. Just shoot both effing dealers and drug abusers. It may sound draconian but they are wasting millions of dollars from taxpayers' money in rehab. Bolehland statistics are quite frightening as 70% of rehabilitated abusers go back to the habit after being discharged.

Now..what were u doing in Richmond? hmmmmm...yes!! you're a drug pusher!!! hahahahahaha

anyway, jokes aside, this is really a serious matter and I agree with cynthia's statement..even if you're a prick who pricks himself, don't be a prick and cause others to prick themselves

Well, we can check with the IP tracker can't we? Before you start accusing people, the IP tracker is a good system that tells who it is and from which town :P

Anyway, am not impying anything, am just stating something and I did not imply that it was you that I was stating...sensitive aren't we and therefore, I deduce that it could be true :P

QV: oh spare me one of ur sermons! blah blah blah..ip tracker is not really that accurate dumb ass!
