Adem Fine Cuisine?

You may already know that Terese and I love Vietnamese foods so when we heard about this restaurant in Sibu that serves Vietnamese foods we just had to give it a try.

Adem Fine Cuisine is quite well known in Sibu but I noticed that it doesn't actually specialize in Vietnamese cuisine. Someone told me the chef's from Vietnam so the Vietnamese foods must be authentic and good, correct? We'll see.

Inside the restaurant the decor is not much to shout about so I won't even bother showing you how it looks but I found out it has a nice view of the roundabout in front! You can sit here and watch impatient drivers pushing their ways through the traffic. Hehehe..

I ordered pho bo or the Vietnamese beef noodle and what a disappointment it was. Not enough taste and they use minced beef instead of sliced beef! That's a definite no no! This is not what pho bo should be.

This is what a real pho bo would look like, look at those red succulent sliced beef! The hot soup is enough to cook them so just eat them as it is. Mmm..I'm hungry for some now.

Terese likes her banh xeo or Vietnamese rice pancake so imagine her disappointment when she saw her banh xeo as it came out. They used egg to make the pancake instead of using rice flour.

This is what banh xeo should look like, nice and fluffy made with rice flour and stuffed generously with all the usual meat, seafood, bean sprouts and other ingredients.

The only thing I didn't mind was the rojak which for goodness sake no restaurants in Malaysia should get it wrong! I've yet to find nice Vietnamese foods in Sibu so better stick to the local foods like kampua and tian mian gu.

It looks more like fusion cooking than authentic vietnamese fare. I only know how to order the pho bo, but I won't know how to differentiate the real stuff with the 'caplang' one. Hehe
